Friends! Hi! After sharing the treasurable truths we learned and experienced from our daily hosts, I want to share on how ministry looked like (with plenty of photos!) It was so beautiful seeing all of us work together: our ministry hosts LoveServe, our daily hosts, Love Without Borders, and Dennis Kirkland, John Hernandez (Juanito), and Joshua Smith.

The first day we met the Mistecos (founders of Love Without Borders) and were introduced to their ministry, I could see the outpouring love and dedication from them as we did food ministry!

Love Without Borders assess the needs of their community and God provides the resources through incredible ministry partners and donors.

We were able to help put together water filters, bring them to the families on family visit days,

 along with bringing food bags,

and the Word of God to Christian and non-christian families.

21 For it is from within, out of a person’s heart, that evil thoughts come— Mark 7:21-23

This is the verse we would refer to when visiting families when giving water filters. The analogy is this: We are the water and Jesus is the filter that will wash away any and every evil thought and action, cleansing our hearts. He makes us new!

We also helped build, “una casita” for a family in the neighborhood. We learned the implications for building the house from beginning to end.

One of my favorite things was helping make the cement mix and paint the mural!

“Jesus is our firm foundation,” Fernando and Luis told us, “and because this is the truth, we are to build every house for our community with a firm foundation. If you try to build up on a weak foundation, it will crumble and fall.”

My team and I are so grateful for our Guatemala experience in which we grew closer to Jesus, learned more about ourselves, and gained a better cultural understanding and appreciation for the Guatemalan people and the ministries God has there.

We love the Mistecos,

and appreciate the hardwork they do for their community. As Fernando and Luis Misteco are missionaries in their country, it is beautiful to see how their whole family plays a part in the ministry by loving and serving their community together

They love and take care of their community and missionary partners, and live decisively, willingly, and obediently to God’s calling for their lives; living with what is necessary, and with everyday expectancy of God’s miracles. I’ve seen and experienced a grounded humility that is exemplary because with any praise they may receive for their good works, they say and teach others to say, “to God be the glory,” or, “It is Him, not us.

If you would be willing to pray and support Love Without Borders, you can support Fernando Misteco & Luis Misteco with what God may put in your heart. You may press on their names to read their stories and to donate!

Thank you my friends and family for reading! Until next time,

J

  1. Wow! I love all these photos. I’m so glad you all were so greatly blessed to be paired with the Misteco family and their ministry. Likewise, they too were so fortunate to have you and your team. You worked so hard and so diligently to complete the home you built with them.
I love the mosaic you painted. So proud of you.
